Amazing Stuffed Mini Greek Challah "Tsourekakia"
How I wish this was available when I was a kid. Even now I crave these awesome sweet snacks. Unfortunately I can't find these here in the States.
I have to stick to binge eating Tsoureki, a kind of Greek Challah on Easter only to get my fix.
But in Greece you can grab one of these at almost any periptero, those little kiosks where you can buy anything from gum, belts for your jeans to beer and newspapers.
You can choose from a tsoureki with mastic of Xios or stuffed with hazelnut praline. I love mastic but man oh man the hazelnut one is out of this world.
If you haven't tried these call up a Greek friend and have their grandma FedEx you a few. They're that good.
It isn't as amazing a fresh baked one that's freshly stuffed and dipped in syrup like the one we ran into in a Kalamata bakery but it's the next best thing.
And for those with big appetites you're in luck. There's a regular sized loaf available at any Greek grocery store in Greece.
At least we can get tsourekia at the local Greek bakery which sounds like a great idea right about now.
Till next time, enjoy your Greek Eats.
