Kalamata, Greece has a culinary secret which is simple really. That secret is that the families who are running the majority of the restaurants and taverns use ingredients they grew themselves.
Anything they didn't have or grow they got locally from people they personally knew and trusted. Something that fresh and trusted is the biggest difference between an average meal and an amazing one.

Chef Demetrios of Poseidon, Miami uses that same philosophy from back home in Kalamata to bring that fresh taste to all of us right here in the states.
There's no substitute for fresh ingredients and this is the reason he's a two time winner of the SoBe Chef Showdown (2015 & 2016). The seafood is either local or flown in daily from Greece and every other ingredient is the freshest he can find.

With that said, check out some mouth watering dishes from Poseidon, courtesy of Masala Cha AKA Brenda Benoît Dudley.

From Melitzanosalata (say that three times fast) to loukaniko and saganaki and everything in between Poseidon is doing an excellent job representing Greece to the citizens and tourists of Miami.

Do try whatever looks great to you but there's one appetizer you must not skip over.

That's the award winning octopus from the SoBe Seafood Festival.

Chef Demetrios let everyone know how awesome Greek style octopus was at Chef Showdown. Even famous Greek-American's came to see him in action and try his dish.

And as good as all of Poseidon's dishes are we suggest the fresh Tsipoura flown in from Greece. Don't like your fish whole? What Greek restaurant server doesn't know how to filet a fish for you? Be brae though and hold on to the head. The best flavors are in the cheeks.
