Greek Chef Defends His Title in Chef Showdown, Miami 2017

In case you missed it this past week was Seafood Week in Miami. Defending his title on Friday, October 20th was Chef Demetrios Pyliotis.

He is the chef of Poseidon Greek Restaurant & Outdoor Lounge in Miami and has won the battle fish competition 2 years in a row. He's known for his octopus and whole fish which all of Miami has probably tried by now.

This year his challenger is Chef Massimo Giannattasio, chef of Cibo Wine Bar, South Beach. Chef Giannattasio has an amazing history in restaurants from Italy to L.A. and many more in between.

Chef Pyliotis though is armed with fresh ingredients in and around Kalamata and if you've been to Kalamata and in general the Peloponnese you know this is some hardcore ammo on his side.

The Italians in general have the marketing and therefore the name and now they have a stong chef ready to challenge chef Demetrios Pyliotis.

At this point he's won two years in a row so there won't be any disappointments if he looses. If he wins however then maybe the Greeks can challenge the Italian marketing and name they have here in the states and around the world.

So who won?

It's better for you to watch than for us to tell you. If he won it will e that much more exciting. If he lost than it will maybe impact Greeks more and push for more chefs like Demetrios to help bring more attention to the Hellenic Cuisine.

Enjoy the clip.
